Mrs. Pirkle's Room Mom

Hello T/Th 1st Grade Moms!

Lots of info below about how our T/TH classes want to support Mrs. Pirkle in the immediate future; please save for a time when you can digest this all! 

Fundraising: Please share this GoFundMe link with other LPCA families - this is not a school sanctioned fundraiser so you won't see it on the weekly email, for example - sharing via word of mouth is our game plan. The info on the link was beautifully written by Robyn K but to summarize: the funds raised will be used towards gas for travel to appointments, parking at medical facilities, costs not covered by health insurance, meals, OTC medicine, eating out if treatments are mild, and comforts.

Subbing: As you all read in her email, Mrs Pirkle has secured a permanent sub for the week after her chemo treatments as she will not be able to work. However, there may be other ways to help in/out the classroom: short notice subs, Mom Helpers in the classroom, and cutting/collating. As these needs are made known, Mrs Penny will pass them on to us.

If you are available for partial or full day T/Th subbing for Mrs Pirkle/ backup for Mrs. Marci Chadwell, will you please apply to be a Legacy sub here (background check etc) so that when the time comes, we have her covered? Thank you! *Pay is $20/hr for up to 5 hours or family volunteer hours).

Meal Trains: She would like to hold off on setting anything up until her treatments begin and she can tell what her appetite might be.

Prayer: Continued prayers for her complete and total healing and a peace that surpasses all understanding. Kristen Wells said it beautifully that many of our new families have not had the opportunity to get to know her (myself included!), but she is truly one of the most selfless people I’ve met. The root of her concerns and worries are for her students' classroom experience and that her sweet caretaker sister is taken care of while in town.

Thank yall for moving quickly with us on this. I've been in tears about Mrs. Pirkle's cancer news and again in tears over the way the families of this school rally to support. What a gift to bear with each other.
